Letter: Seems like a cover-up

To the Editor:

Wow, thank you Kendall County Record for the reporting Dec. 28 on the fees for damages and legal fees totaling $175,000 that the hard working taxpayer had to fund for theft, vandalism and damage during the period of that the city leased the Yorkville Rec Center premises.

My question then became with the disappearance of televisions, speakers, a bounce house and Step 2 Pirate ship, and the damage to the phone system and computer wiring, etc., was anybody ever arrested and charged? Per a phone call I made to the Yorkville Police Station I was told there was no report to the police, but instead the matter was handled between the owners of the rec center and the city.

If above is accurate, this stinks to high heaven like a big cover-up that the taxpayer must bear while the guilty go free.
