The Fox Valley Family YMCA recently announced the acquisition of For Kids Only day care, preschool and before- and after-school care.
The purchase was confirmed on Dec. 29 and a DCFS licensing permit was issued to the Y’s Early Learning Academy on Jan. 8.
For Kids Only is at 705 S. Main St. in Sandwich.
“The children currently attending For Kids Only are happy and healthy, which I would directly attribute to the strong dedication the current staff has. The Y is committed to nurturing and supporting staff to continue this vital connection,” said Amy Collins, director of Child Care.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to continue focus on and invest in the development of youth in our community and serve our Sandwich-area families,” said Rebecca Morphey, Fox Valley Family YMCA Board president.
For years, For Kids Only has provided a safe place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and build self-reliance. The Y’s Early Learning Academy plans to build on that foundation by introducing a creative curriculum focused on science, social studies and first-hand experiences as a segue to learning. The Early Learning Academy will continue to develop confidence, creative and critical thinking skills necessary for kindergarten.
In addition, the Y’s Early Learning Academy will also introduce the Child and Adult Care Food Program, which requires staff to follow USDA food guidelines. This program’s reimbursement allows for the Y to purchase fresh, more nutritious food for the facility.
The Early Learning Academy provides full day care for birth through 5 years old, full and half-day preschool, and before- and after-school care.
