Yorkville: The Foxes placed third at the 25-team Sycamore Invite on Jan. 6. Nine Foxes placed in the top eight in their respective weight classes. Brady Fisher was champion at 220 pounds. Joe Roberts was third at 145, as were Cale Reeder at 152, Zach Katula at 170 and Nick Stemmet at 182. Cole Ferguson was fifth at 113 pounds, Ben Stemmet fifth at 195, Justin Hames sixth at 120 and Keenan Ness sixth at 285.
Winning 12 matches, the Foxes beat Lincoln-Way Central, 60-6, on Jan. 9. The Foxes won 10 matches in beating Morris, 55-24, in a dual meet Jan. 4.
Newark: Dylan Patrick scored 21 points, Corey Jacobson added 10 points and Connor Swanson 10 for the Norsemen (9-6) in a 56-55 loss to Seneca on Jan. 9.
Yorkville freshmen: Yorkville's Cole Yearsley scored 14 points in a 58-34 loss to DeKalb on Jan. 8. The Foxes' "B" team won, 39-32, in overtime.
Yorkville beat Morris, 59-30, on Jan. 3. Yearsley scored 12 points and Dougie Burson added nine. The "B" team tied, 38-38.
Newark: The Norsemen beat Serena, 46-38, on Jan. 5. Jocelyn Mitchell scored 12 points, Madi Malone had 11 points and 12 rebounds and Meggie Scott 10 points for Newark (14-4, 6-0 Little Ten).
Yorkville sophomores: Lexi Meyer scored 13 points and Kenzie Senffner added 10 for the Foxes in a 48-21 win over Rochelle on Jan. 6. Meyer and Lexi Sandon each had seven rebounds, Meyer and Dana Malinowski contributed four assists and Senffner three steals for Yorkville (11-4, 5-1).
Yorkville beat LaSalle-Peru, 50-28, on Jan. 4. Meyer had 14 points and four steals, Malinowski had 12 points and four steals, Sandon 11 points and nine rebounds, Halle Jones four assists and Ava Hanson three assists.
Yorkville: Led by Katie Orisek, the Foxes beat Rochelle, 2,876-2,347, on Jan. 9.
Yorkville: The Foxes lost to Plainfield Central, 3,355-2,879, on Jan. 9. John Gruber rolled Yorkville's high series of 560, followed by Rick Horstmann's 536.
Yorkville finished in fourth place with a score of 6,007 at the Belvidere Invitational on Jan. 6. Michael Nape Jr. bowled Yorkville's high score of 1,346 to receive top-10 honors.
Yorkville beat DeKalb, 3,669-3,091, on Jan. 4. Dante Gashi bowled the Foxes' high score of 705, followed by Nape Jr.'s 661.
The Foxes beat Sycamore, 3,595-3,561, on Jan. 3. Zack Nauman and Caden Fairless each bowled a 611 series, and Nape Jr. rolled a 606.
Yorkville: Competing against 22 teams, many among the top in the state, Yorkville placed 13th at Buffalo Grove with a score of 72.73.
"Since our last competition, the girls really focused on adding skill utilization into our routine, which went up a whole point on the rubric," Foxes coach Caitlin Graff said. "We also worked on cleaning up all stunts, jumps, and tumbling. One thing that was hard for us was our pyramid, but the girls ended the routine with lots of energy for their dance."
The Foxes will compete at the conference meet this weekend in Sycamore.
