Basketball can bring communities together to do beautiful things.
Like Yorkville and Oswego.
The two communities are once again coming together to participate in the Communities vs. Cancer Hoops for Hope charity fundraiser Jan. 27 at Yorkville High School.
Now in its eighth year, the event has raised close to $25,000.
Proceeds from this year's event will go toward Cal's Angels, a locally-based pediatric cancer foundation which provides financial assistance to families with a child fighting cancer.
"The nice thing is that it is all local and goes back to the area," Yorkville girls basketball coach Kim Wensits said.
T-shirts and other apparel are currently available online at hoopsforhope.deco-apparel.com. The deadline for online orders is Jan. 19.
Raffled prizes will be available the day of the game.
On Jan. 27 games start with the sophomore girls at noon and concluding with the varsity boys at 4:30 p.m.
Those with questions may contact Kim Wensits at email@example.com.
