To the Editor:
This past week the Yorkville Public Library participated in National Library Week, April 8-14. Many libraries throughout the country participated in this annual celebration.
During the April 9 library board meeting, the board was recognized for their dedication and hours that they devote to the library. Current board trustees are Russ Walter, Carol La Chance, Wamecca Rodriguez, Susan Chacon, Darren Crawford, Jason Hedman, Theron Garcia and Krista Danis.
We recognized our staff with an appreciation lunch, honored the Friends of the Library group for their continuous support at our monthly board meeting, and provided treats for library patrons.
We also wish to thank the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) for their volunteer hours.
I am fortunate to be the director of this wonderful library and am amazed at how hard everyone works to keep this library the community asset that it is today on such a limited budget. I work with a staff who share my passion for reaching the needs of our community and to be able to serve our patrons daily.
The board and I have started working on a strategic plan that will shape the future of our library that will also include input from our staff. As the actress Sarah Jessica Parker so eloquently said, “If libraries are the heart of the community, then librarians keep the heart beating”. Help us to keep the library’s heartbeat healthy and strong by supporting us now and in the future.
