Oswego police reports

Information in Police Reports is obtained from local police departments. Individuals in Police Reports who have been charged with a crime have not been proved guilty in court.

Facing multiple charges

Oswego police arrested Vydreon L. Rich, 37, of the 600 block of Charlotte Lane, Oswego, after stopping his vehicle on Seton Creek Drive at Old Post Road May 14 at 12:14 a.m. Police said Rich faces charges of failure to appear in court on a warrant, driving on a revoked driver’s licence, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal transportation of alcohol, having no registration lamp and driving without insurance. Police said Rich is scheduled to appear in court on the charges next month.

Saw stolen

Oswego police are investigating the theft of a saw valued at $300 from a home in the 300 block of Wolverine Drive on May 13. Police said the theft was reported the following day.

Justice woman arrested

Oswego police arrested Samantha Arredondo, 28, of Justice on Route 30 south of Treasure Drive May 12 at 11:25 a.m. on charges of fleeing the scene of a personal injury crash, failure to yield to avoid a crash and driving without insurance. Police said Arredondo posted bond and was released pending a court appearance next month.

Criminal damage reported

Oswego police took a report of criminal damage to property at a home in the 600 block of Manhattan Circle in Oswego. Police said an estimated $315 in damage was done between 4:05 p.m. and 8:26 p.m. May 13.

Escapes injury

An Oswego resident, Bessie Metrou, 61, escaped injury when the vehicle she was driving struck a metal sign on Della Lane May 13 at 5 p.m., village police reported. Police said damage was estimated at $1,500.

Warrant arrest

Oswego police arrested Vernon Cole Jr., 43, of the 2000 block of Farmington Lake Drive, Oswego, at his home on a warrant May 13 at 3:03 a.m.

License violation

Oswego police arrested Rodney E. Tuney, 28, of the 2000 block of Fox Point Drive, Oswego, after stopping his vehicle on Route 34 at Kendall Point Drive May 12 at 8:49 p.m. Police said Tuney was charged with driving on a suspended license. He posted bond and was released pending a court appearance next month.

Lawn mower theft reported

A lawn mower valued at $3,559 was reported stolen from a business in the 50th block of Stonehill Road in Oswego sometime May 10 or 11, according to village police.

ID theft reported

A resident of Oaklawn Avenue recently told Oswego police that someone had opened credit card accounts in his name. Police said they are investigating.

Coin theft investigated

Oswego police are investigating the theft of numerous coins at a home on Seton Creek Drive between Dec. 25 and May 4. Police said the coins, which were taken from a collection, are valued at $5,000.

Motorist rolls Jeep

An Oswego resident, Maricela Gamboa, 37, escaped injury when she overturned her Jeep while trying to avoid an unknown vehicle on Route 34 at Boulder Hill Pass May 11 at 9:15 p.m. Police said damage to Gamboa’s vehicle was estimated at over $1,500.

Warrant arrest

Oswego police arrested Anthony E. Ortiz, 25, of the 1000 block of West Downer Place, Aurora, as they responded to a report of two people yelling at each other at a gas station on Route 34 at Chicago Road May 11 at 2:48 a.m. Police said Ortiz was placed under arrest when they learned he was wanted on a warrant. He was taken to the county jail in Yorkville pending court proceedings.

Investigate theft

Oswego police are investigating the theft of property valued at between $50 and $70 at an apartment complex in the 3000 block of White Oak Drive. Police said the theft occurred March 14 and was reported to them May 11.

Two face alcohol charges

Oswego police arrested Rocio Perea, 20, of the 400 block of South Ohio Street, Aurora, and Mariah H. Rodriguez, 18, of the 800 block of Claim Street, Aurora, on Route 30 at Hill Avenue May 11 at 1:17 a.m. Police said Perea and Rodriguez were both charged with unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor. The two later posted bond and were released pending court appearances later this month.

Sheridan resident arrested

Oswego police arrested Kristin N. Battles, 21, of the 3600 block of East 2631st Road, Sheridan, after stopping her vehicle on Route 71 at Bell Court May 9 at 8:57 a.m. Police said Battles faces charges of driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance, driving on a suspended registration for no insurance and speeding. Battles is scheduled to appear in court on the charges next month.

Mailbox damaged

A resident of the 500 block of Lakeview Drive in Oswego told village police May 9 that sometime overnight May 8 a car struck her mailbox. Police said a passenger-side mirror from a maroon Hyundai was recovered at the scene.

Cellphone lost or stolen

A 49-year-old Aurora resident told Oswego police that his cellphone was either lost or stolen when he left it on a counter at a retail store in the 2300 block of Route 34 May 8 at 9:05 p.m. Police said the phone is valued at $400. The victim declined to sign a criminal complaint, according to police.

License violation

Oswego police arrested Jecorey D. Harden, 21, of the 800 block of North Gladstone Avenue, Aurora, after stopping his vehicle at a retail store in the 2300 block of Route 34 May 8 at 10 a.m. Police said Harden was charged with driving on a suspended license.

Protection order violation

Oswego police are investigating a report of a violation of an order of protection. The incident was reported to police May 8.

Oswego man arrested

Oswego police arrested Thomas L. Schilling, 29, of the 700 block of Wooley Road, Oswego, after stopping his vehicle on Route 30 at Wolf’s Crossing Road May 9 at 9:24 p.m. Police said Schilling faces charges of driving on a suspended/revoked licence, having no proof of insurance and speeding. Police said Schilling has a date to appear in court later this month.
