DeKalb County Treasurer Christine J. Johnson’s office has made the first distribution of DeKalb County real estate taxes to local governmental agencies. Of the $218,452,230.15 to be collected, $20,797,654.37, or 9.5 percent, has been collected and distributed to date, and a second distribution will occur before the end of June, Johnson said.
“By law, the first tax distribution is not required to be made until within 30 days after the first installment due date, which would be the first week in July. Our office will have, by that time, made two distributions of tax money to the taxing districts to assist them with their cash flow needs,” Johnson said.
From this distribution, $2,296,009.19 has been distributed to DeKalb County and the DeKalb County Forest Preserve District, $891,241.15 to townships and township road and bridge districts, $455,196.23 to libraries, $1,413,990.79 to cities and villages, $442,866.11 to fire districts, $807,107.94 to park districts, $12,311,495.33 to school districts, $1,237,457.11 to community colleges, $915,790.43 to TIF districts, and $26,500.09 to drainage districts.
