A Joliet woman was arrested in connection with the death of a person who died from a drug overdose, police said.
At 4:20 p.m. Aug. 12, 2017, police officers responded to a report of someone who possibly overdosed on drugs in the 8400 block of Hanbury Court, Joliet police Sgt. Darrell Gavin said in an email. The address is west of Caton Farm and Ridge roads in Kendall County.
When they arrived, the officers saw paramedics were in the process of taking the person who overdosed to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center for treatment, Gavin said, and the person later died from the overdose.
An investigation into the death was conducted and Friday, a Kendall County warrant was issued for the arrest of Krystle Hoffman, 32, of Joliet, on a charge of drug-induced homicide.
About 8:15 p.m., officers were notified that Hoffman was seen in the 3300 block of Mall Loop Drive, Gavin said. He said the officers were aware that Hoffman had a warrant for her arrest.
They located and met with Hoffman, verified the warrant was still valid and arrested her, Gavin said.
Hoffman was taken to the Kendall County Jail and will be prosecuted in that county since that is where the incident took place, Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputy Nancy Velze said.
Hoffman was jailed from about 11 p.m. Friday until she was released on bond about noon the next day.
