The Indians scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to win a wild seesaw 15-14 game with Newark on Saturday.
Sean Smith had two hits and two runs batted in, Jackson Murphy had three hits and Jack Theurer three RBIs for the Indians. Sandwich scored four runs in the first inning four in the second to jump out to an 8-0 lead, then rallied from down 14-12 going into the seventh inning.
Theurer hit a grand slam and Rex Avery had three hits and three RBIs for Sandwich in a 16-1 win over Herscher on Friday. Wyatt Murphy struck out three batters over five innings. Austin Ford and Jaron Schiera had two hits and John Kruswicki two RBIs for the Indians.
Freshman Maggie Knepper struck out four over seven innings for the Indians, who beat Newark 7-5 in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday. Jordyn Thulin had three hits and Ava Knepper two hits, and Josie Gonzalez and Casey Delphey each had two RBIs. In the first game Ava Knepper her first home run among three hits and drove in two runs, and Delphey had four hits for Sandwich in an 8-5 loss to Newark. Gonzalez had two hits and two RBIs.
Gonzalez threw four strong innings and Brianna Bell had Sandwich's lone hit in a 10-0 loss to Herscher on Friday. Thulin had three hits for Sandwich in a 12-7 loss to Coal City on April 9.
