The Oswego Country Market reopened for the season on Sunday, to large crowds, bright skies, and sunny smiles in the village’s downtown.
“Everybody is so happy and friendly,” Marie Lo Monte said.
Lo Monte, an Aurora resident, visited for the first time on Sunday, with Luanne Lo Monte.
“Great prices, really reasonable,” Luanne said. “Fresh veggies are fantastic, fresh flowers – and local, local, local. That’s the best part.”
Many of the booths featured at the market were returning for another year, including Stamper Cheese Company, Aroma Roots, The Cutting Edge by the Blacksmith, The Olive Gallery, and Gallery’s Choice. While many of the booths will be present throughout the season, other booths may fill in as the summer progresses.
“It’s a great market, it’s nice and quiet and relaxed,” Bill Jarecki of Gallery’s Choice said. Having been a presence at the market for about eight years, he called it, “A nice, easy market; a wonderful market.”
Organized by the Oswegoland Park District, the market is held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sundays in downtown Oswego. The season will run through Sept. 30.
